can't create desktop icons with games that are uninstalled ( with installed i can )

after steam actuallizations i can't do this. for people who have a lot of games is a big problem becasuse we cant organizate games at desktop with icons. please can reactivate possibility ???

It is somehow clear that this is not possible (idk how this should have ever been possible). A desktop shortcut needs the path to the .exe of the game. If a game is uninstalled this .exe doesnt exist anymore. Therefore a shortcut cant be made.

steam doesn't use the game executables. it uses its own browser protocol to run the games, like: steam://rungameid/730

@op: please dont tell me you have 2400 shortcuts ....

yes i have all the shorcuts fr games that i'm not played now... 1000 shortcuts xD

You are right, forgot about that. But in the end Steam will still need the .exe to launch the game, so i see why they removed this functionality (if there ever has been such one).

Well you can also download the icon image from the internet and make the shortcut yourself. Just add a shortcut on your desktop set the image as icon and the path to steam://rungameid/*****. The asterisks (*) should be replaced with the corresponding app id which easily can be found out by copying the URL from the game's store page.

Updating? Beta client?

no no i'm not participating in a beta. steam has actualized 30 minutes ago and after that i can't create desktop icons
