Argentina,Turkey and Russia steam stores have very low prices compared to the US and EU.
So people created accounts on the Argentina, Turkey or Russia steam stores, even if they don't actually live there. Publishers are not happy to sell their games for 1/10th of the prices they should get from the EU, US or other high priced regions.
One way to combat this is to prevent funding those accounts with money from their owners home countries.
Makes no sense at all. We're talking about digital gift cards. You can't change your country that easily anymore like you could before. You have to use a payment method that matches your Steam country setting.
So how exactly are they abusing it? What does digital gift cards has to do with regional pricing? The prices are still the same for them.
Sorry for replying to old comment, but do you know any good sites that doesn't sell gift cards like 40% more expensive and such ?
If this function has been stopped due to the obvious abuse, those sites that still offer them aren't up to much good are they?
In this case the prices are skyrocketing because Valve apparently has stopped producing Argentinian Steam Wallet cards so whats being sold right now is the rest of the available stock, thats why the prices go higher and higher.
Its more that the peso is so bad and is in a multi-year death spiral that effectively any card you print pretty much loses 10% of its value every other month
No. Steam Digital Gift sending has been deactivated for Turkey a while ago.
