then any xbox controller and others should work out of the box with Steam Link app.
the physical hardware Steam Link supported multiple controllers, so the app may too, i never tested it.
Steam Link is like a remove access tool. a game does not require to support it as you are seeing what is on your host PC and it relays inputs made on remote.
The Steamlink app on IOS/TVOS/Android all support controllers and yes on AppleTV you can pair multiple controllers.
