Steam Games with brave browser?

I recently converted to the Brave browser. Steam's desktop shortcuts stopped working. I uninstalled the games and reinstalled. it made new icons. They also don't work. It seems to be trying to open its shortcuts with the browser and failing and giving me what looks like a text file in the browser instead of opening the game.

Any suggestions?

Steam desktop shortcuts are normal internet .lnk files,

Type "file associations" into the Windows search bar and disassociate Brave with that kind of file type.

Steam shortcuts are .url files and that is also what they are, an "address" with the separate protocol and interpreter "steam://"

the file association for .url within Windows should be "Internet Browser", not any specific browser.
if that is not the case, the icons for the shortcuts will surely not work and if the picked browser is not told to call the steam.exe on steam:// urls then you can also not run the games via shortcuts.
