http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2015/04/confusion-broadband-isp-speeds-megabits-vs-megabytes.html
One megabyte is equal to eight megabits, but the terms are used in specific ways: Megabits per second (mbps) are generally used to describe the speed of an Internet connection, whereas megabytes (MB) usually refer to the size of a file or storage space.
Steam uses MB for its download speed not mbps
http://www.speedtest.net/
and my old results was only 2.5mbps
small b is bit.
big B is byte.
there is absolutely nothing wrong here except probably your correct remembrance of where you have seen that "2.5" before.
That is totally correct for your 2,5 MB/s download speed. I have an VDSL 50.000 line so i get 50 Mb/s at that speedtest which is around 5,9 MB/s on Steam. Do the math.
I have the same DSL, but I get hardly close to these numbers; sometimes it works, though.
As another poster described, the connection drops sometimes to zero and then moves up slowly
to 100 kb/sec, 300...800 and so on, but then sticks around 1 MB/s, just to drop again to zero etc.
I've done lots of speed tests and all confirm, that my DSL works correctly.
And - as I mentioned - sometimes it works even on Steam.
Currently I have region GER, server Berlin. Any suggetions what I can do or is it a Steam problem?
