i bought bo3 on steam and i don't want to wait for the download. Can i buy a bo3 disc copy that does not have a key and install it and then use it from steam? (Hope you understand the question)

It will still require a key and you will still need to download it

You can install some of the content from the disc, but I wouldn't expect to be able to install 100% of it considering the updates the game has seen since it went golden (got printed on disc.) so you're still forced to download some of it.

so should i buy the disc or wait 2 weeks for the download

the content on the disks is outdated as soon as they are produced. so that will not help much. especially for multiplayer titles

I guess really depends on how much you're being charged for the disc.

But if you know someone in real life who has the files, you could just ask them to transfer them over to you via some external media.

how much of the game would be installed from the disk

Absolutely no idea.

Could be less than the download portion at this point.

Don't forget that the amount of physical discs doesn't diminish with the amount of data that's gone obsolete by the time you start installing.

How come it didn't work, what happened?

Did you also copy the appmanifest_311210.acf from under the SteamApps\ -folder?

if the data that is obsolete is less than 5-7 gigs i dont mind i just dont want to download a 50gb game bc it will take FOREVER and in reponce to your other question i dont really know i tried to restore it and it didnt reconsize the game. Then i tried putting the files in the downloading file and it just deleted them. so peed-off as i was i deleted all the files..:steamsad:

Well, should it come to downloading the game again at your friend's place. Copy both the appmanifest_311210.acf from under his SteamApps\ -folder and the "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" -folder from under SteamApps\common\ to your corresponding locations.

After that Steam should recognize your files.

You can buy the disc if you want to, but just know that it might not be of great benefit. I wouldn't pay a lot for it though if I were you. If lending the disc is possible, I'd take even that over buying a new disc.
