Never heard of Hostify.

Registery is null is an error that can happen if you downloaded fake mods.
There are many sites that present to people fake java mods.

Make sure you download mods from curseforge, github or from modrinth. Those generally have the mods you need. There are a few others that you can only get from their own website, such as luckyblock. Don't get these from fake sites like 9minecraft. You'll get such errors.

Considering they have no original minecraft--- what does that mean, no original minecraft client or a client that bypasses the need for accounts?
A lot of people use sketchy clients just so that they can cheat and some of them contain malware code. I don't recommend using any of them personally, but not all are 'bad' for the user obviously.
Just be extremely careful and perform research; some clients have shown to infect mods with their own codein order to make people bitcoinmine and steal passwords from them. (you can look up such news posts if you want to, people spoke about it.)

Minecraft Servers can be made even on your own computer; you don't need a host unless you want to keep it running and let them play whenever they want.
but even then, if you have a spare computer or laptop around that doesn't need to be turned off you can use that.

Does Hostify work for you? Then it should also work for your friend. Currently I am guessing the problem is caused by the mods or their client.
