Move files out of OneDrive
I want to use Onedrive but not for my games. Is there a way to configure Steam to use a different folder outside of the Ondrive folder? I am using Farming Simulator 19.

Steam doesn't use OneDrive unless you explicitly told it to.
Which is a terrible idea in every way.

not Steam ...
games may use things like the documents folder, mostly documents\my games\<gamename>, to store their working data

that is not the game itself, that is just save games and configurations for the most part.

you can configure onedrive to not sync certain folders with onedrive cloud storage.

I just did a clean install of Windows and then installed Steam and it put my game files here:
C:\Users\name\OneDrive\Documents\My Games\FarmingSimulator2019
I didn't ask to place them there. I guess I will delete the My Games folder from OneDrive and reinstall and see what happens.

Steam just created a My Games folder in the OneDrive folder automatically and down loaded files no questions asked. I guess Steam not only uses OneDrive but creates the folders.

Did you stop OneDrive from backing up your Documents folder? Deleting from the OneDrive folder won't accomplish much if the game still stores it's files in Documents and OneDrive still grabs everything in Documents.

You've decided to put yohr Documents folder in OneDrive. Windows/OneDrive doesn't do that by itself, it's an action you took during OOBE.

Revert this action. Have OneDrive NOT back your Doucments folder up.

Here is what I found I could do in order to continue using the OneDrive feature in Windows.

I found since you can't change where Farming simulator 19 places your gaming files you can at least change the location of your mod files and prevent them from being uploading to OneDrive. I searched through the system files used by Farming Simulator 19 in the location C:\Users\name\OneDrive\Documents\My Games\FarmingSimulator2019 and found the file "gamesettings. xml". Then by editing my "gamesettings. xml" file to relocate my mods files. I just changed .....

<modsDirectoryOverride active="false" directory="C:/Temp"/>

.... to a different folder by setting the override to "true" and adding a folder of my choosing such as:

<modsDirectoryOverride active="true" directory="C:/Mods"/>

This means, that in my case, 7 Gigabytes of data will not be uploaded to OneDrive.
