When I install games on Steam, their icon doesn't appear even when I select the option to it while installing said games
This has been happening since yesterday. I noticed that when I bought a new game. Its icon didn't apppear even after installing it. Does anybody know what I can do to fix this? It is not that annoying since the games are indeed installed. I just want to know if my Steam is working properly.

When you say "...Its icon didn't apppear...", do you mean it's not in your library, or do you mean that there is no desktop icon?

If it's not in your library, restarting Steam might fix it.
If it's about the desktop icon, there is a checkbox on the install dialog to control if you want the icon or not.

There is no desktop icon but the game is in my library. That's the problem. I check the checkbox on the install dialog since I want the icon but even then it doesn't appear.

You don't have to reinstall. Go to your library and find the game. Right-click on it and select "Manage" and then "Add Desktop Shortcut."

Make sure you aren't hiding desktop icons.

winkey -> enter "default" to get the "default apps", and open that.
there you open default apps per filetype.
look for .URL
and you select "Internet Browser" as the application to open these, not any specific browser.

in most cases that should make the icons reappear.

I can't find .url among them.

this is a sign that wuddih's fix might work.

I'll repeat the steps and you should be able to fix it.

press windows key and search for default apps.
you'll see some stuff like email photo and webbrowser, scroll past that and click the option called "Choose default application by file type".
this will open a screen which will need to load for a bit. once it's loaded scroll all the way down to .URL and select 'Internet Browser' (you need to reselect if even though it's already selected).

hope this helps, cause I have the same problem but this simple fix doesn't help me :1

you might check with Dism rep and SFC ( google this. ) and yet, i cant say if it will fix it.

I did the following: sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth. It didn't work either.
