Can't open Steam chat anymore

People are sending me messages but every time I click on a chat it automatically dissapears.

Same, when my friend messages me, it closes when I try to open or when I open it in full screen it makes the page on steam (e.g this thread) refresh the page.

The fix I found for it was undocking the chat from the friend list in the settings.

Click on the friendlist > Settings (the cog) > Chat > turn off "dock chats to the friend list"

Thank you this helped, at least i can talk to people again. Its been bugged for weeks.

Does anyone know how to do this with groups? I recently made a group and I (nor anyone I believe) can open the group's chatroom. It's very frustrating and I've restarted Steam and my computer multiple times.
