Wrong "Valve Corporation VAT number" on some purchases, how to predict which one will be used before buying?
Lets get this out of the way, I am not trying to do anything illegal! I have the right for a tax return in Belgium, so I can legally get -21% back when buying a Steam Deck(plan on getting one in 2-3 months).

So my problem is that in my "recent transaction on Steam" some purchases include the Belgium VAT number that I need and some include the VAT number from the Netherlands that unfortunately cant get me a tax return. It seems random to me which is used, so I am afraid for example of buying the 420 Euro Steam Deck and then realizing that I cant get almost 88 Euros back.

I would just like to know is there a way to predict or buy the product knowing on what VAT number will the item be charged?

To purchase ANYTHING from a specific region, you need a valid payment method, a bank account, and the currency from said region. If you don't have all of those you can't buy it.

they can not give you a belgian vat number since they are not located in belgium. they have their hardware warehouse and logistics in NL so they are probably using that for EU-based taxes for a while now.

how tax returns happen with those you have to deal with your local people.

Could try asking other Deck owners

That's the thing, some of my perches have a Belgium and some have a Dutch VAT number so I am not sure how they pick what number they use.
Plus I believe it dose not matter from what warehouse it comes. I purchased multiple times things from stores with Belgium VAT numbers and warehouses in different countries.(such as 2 laptops, since the Dutch keyboards are QWERTY keyboards while the Belgium ones are AZERTY keyboards)

Ask here and if that doesn't work, move on to the Steam Deck sub.

In general, it gets way more footfall - it's not buried in the bowels of the Steam forums - and there use to be at least one active Belgium user.

This is the number: BE0671797155
And here is a EU commission page that can confirm its a valid number: https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/#/vat-validation

While some purchases have this VAT number: NL824237171B01
