Why Lithuania belong to Russia region ?
Hi i am from Lithuania and i know most of you don't give a damn about this random country or just dont know that it exists , but nevertheless i do not understand why some game developers or steam decide that Lithuania belongs to Russia region for example "Dishonored" is Dishonored[RU]" or Borderlands 2 region locked my country to Russia and so on.

1. Lithuania is in NATO means we are allies with USA not RUSSIA
2. Lithuania is in Euro Union which means we are even further away from Russia grasp.
3. Lithuania has to pay FULL "1st world" price for games. Thats 60 euros per title ($70 for you USA boys) so WTF ?

so explain me why in 2016 we still considered communist country ?

idk maybe Estonia or Latvia is in same boat as Lithuania but i talk from my perspective and it sucks.

P.S i have tons of friends from Europe and US but i have 0 friends from Russia.

Without going into any of the politics of what you've brought up, all I can say is that it does seem quite odd that a member of the EU would be region-locked as part of the Russian Federation.

Perhaps it's simply ignorance on the part of a developer? I dont't personally know if it's Steam that sets the regions, or how that's handled, but perhaps someone else will come along who can provide more detail. Good luck. :)

The only thing I can think of, and it probably isn't the case - does Lithuania have any sort of content restrictions that would line up with Russian content restrictions? Like, I'm pretty sure low violence versions of some games have to be sold in Germany. If there were something similar going on with Russian & Lithuanian gaming regulations, they might combine the regions and have a game version for that region.

Yeah, I was just using Germany as an example of a country with a region lock for a specific gaming regulation. I have no idea if Russia/Lithuania have any of these, but it'd be something to check into.

Pažvelkite žemėlapyje išvaizdą. Tikriausiai kažką daryti su serverio prieinamumą?

It's daft. I mean, the Baltic states don't even use the Cyrillic alphabet, they hate Russia so much!

Bacause frankly, nearly no one gives a flying about small European countries. You're right next to Russia, your in the middle of the POL/RU-region which is often used as a language package and bigger nations around you are members of the CIS.

You're simply a victim of circumstances and big American comapnies not caring about it.

If it's any consolation, Swiss and Austria are still often treated to German USK cuts altough completely unnecessary, Flems in Belgium have to cope with French-only versions and many countries are even exempt from publishing deals, which makes it impossible to legally buy some games there.

Purchases made in Latvia are only playable in Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia

Yep, CIS region.

Wouldn't RU games be much cheaper than EU1 or EU2? I thought that was the whole point of region locking games to stop trading them for profit.

Wikipedia tells that only 5.8% of people are of Russian ethnicity, so can't be that either. Must be some people still thinking it's part of the Soviet Union or something.

Well, Steam would argue that it doesn't "do business" in either Russia or Lithuania... So I don't like your chances of getting meaningful reasons from them...

Because they want to price you as western european, but give you ♥♥♥♥ servers as russian.
