test it. but by logic it should perform even worse. the overlay is not normally "displayed" like a standard windows program, so it will never be on par with a webbrowser or the standalone application, which is basicly a browser too.
those will not work on Steam anyway. Steam uses chromium embedded framework for all its browser shenanigans and hardlimits any customization. so no plugins, except ppapi, which are installed systemwide but some are blocked anyway and no extensions at all.
what you do on google chrome, stays on google chrome.
