CD KEYS AND PROOF OF OWNERSHIP
It looks like you haven't yet provided some of the information we need in order to help you.

In your next message, type out in full the CD Key registered to your Steam account so we can easily investigate this issue. This can be a CD Key received from an online retailer or a physical CD Key.

Then, attach an image of that CD key. The image should be a digital photo or scan of the CD Key in .jpg format, or a screenshot of the CD key as it appears in your digital purchase receipt. Please ensure that you submit a full-color image, rather than a photocopy.

I JUST WENT TO A WEBSITE AND GOT A FREE CDKEY AND APPLIED IT. THEN I TOOK A SCREEN SHOT OF THE CDKEY WHEN IT WAS PRESENTED TO ME ON THE WEBSITE AND SENT THAT TO STEAM SUPPORT. WILL THEY ACCEPT IT?

No. They need a key that you already registered before.

So you cant prove you own the account so you stole a jpg of a key you dont own?

You have to take a photo of the code in its physical state. Providing just the code itself is not sufficient proof.

This is a thread from 2016 and Steam's way pickier now, even more so over the last few months. Best to just send them what they're asking for and not to look for loopholes.

bank transactions are always superior proof of ownership than cd keys. and you legally have to keep bank transactions anyway, at least in the countries i deal with.

Depends if Steam's insisting on the first key and only that key. They've been known to get picky about not accepting the other proof of ownership methods if there's something "funky" about the account.

ikr, i have provided them everything they asked for, except for old paypal recepits from 2014 (which i can't gain the access anymore, obv) and physical photos of my CD keys.
now they ask me for just the CD keys, so how should i make my cd keys work for them? i do have them written in a word file, i don't have the physical paper anymore bruh

the account was self locked by no one after i was selling many crappy csgo skins, they probably thinked that i was a scammer or something like that.
so yeah, they're even more picky about my problem

paypal does not delete your transaction history, ever. screenshot them, done.
and credit card stuff is he same as bank. your get statements in paper or they are available online but that is not even needed.

there are examples in the support article
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2268-EAFZ-9762&l=#paypal
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2268-EAFZ-9762&l=#credit-card

provide Steam support the early stuff. the "first cd key" thing is a rare occurrence and normally just happens with really old accounts, as they have "black market" value.
