What Year Did Steam Start Summer/Winter Sales?
Did Steam have a winter sale during 2003 and summer sales back in 2004?

I don't think they did, or if they did they didn't have any events tied to it like they do now. The sale events started in 2011.

According to a user at reddit, it started before that. Holiday Sale December 23, 2009 - January 3, 2010

http://store.steampowered.com/news/2127/ first winter sale in my records. no summer sale after that. regular summer and winter sale since end of 2009.

2003-2006(or so) a sale made no sense, since the only games on Steam were Valve games.

Seems like almost a quaint time to see that announcement. Things were so much simpler and more relaxed back then.

the time when they could fit new game releases, some discounts, a 20-hour Steam outage because of a storm and a callout to get drunk with eggnog in one newspost.
