Refund for in game item bought in error
So I bought the wrong robot and when I ask for a refund it says

"Refunds are not currently supported for in-game purchases in War Robots. Check with the game publisher directly to see if they can provide you with a refund"

I asked Pixon support and they referred me back to Steam!

Is this correct, if I make a purchase in error there is no way I can get a refund to my Steam wallet and the robot removed from my inventory?

If you have any advice or there is an email address I can use to progress this please post it.

Thank you

Correct. In-game purchases tend to be non-refundable. I suggest being careful when making such purchases.
That's like buying something from a shop and taking it back unused with the receipt and the shop saying sorry you can't get a refund. Really???

If its something like a book, or a magazine, yeah that happens.

Yes, just like as that shop told you before you purchased it.

Refunds on In-game Purchases

Steam will offer refund for in-game purchases within any Valve-developed games within forty-eight hours of purchase, so long as the in-game item has not been consumed, modified or transferred. Third-party developers will have the option to enable refunds for in-game items on these terms. Steam will tell you at the time of purchase if the game developer has opted to offer refunds on the in-game item you are buying. Otherwise, in-game purchases in non-Valve games are not refundable through Steam.

You are provided a link to that policy at the time of purchase for all Steam content. You had the chance to read the conditions of that refund, and if it would be possible, and the terms of it, if so.
I'm not disputing that the information wasn't provided to say a refund may not be available (although I admit I didn't read it) I just find it baffling that Steam will not provide a refund of the money to your Steam wallet if the item was purchased in error and is returned unaltered and unused.

Valve does that, its just that refunds for in-game items in that specific game aren't implemented. That, by the way, requires work from the game developer as that requires implementing an "unpurchase" action.

It's not Valve's game so it's not their choice/problem. If the developers have referred you back to Steam then that's their mistake. Valve don't just issue wallet funds willy-nilly out of thin air.

If the money has already gone to the Dev, Steam has nothing to refund. When you purchase an item which allows refunds Steam hold onto the money for 14 days before releasing the funds to the dev. When an item is not available for refunds they'll likely send the funds straight to the dev and that will be why Steam has advised contacting the Dev for support. DLC and ingame items are sometimes hard to track so Steam and the Dev may not be able to tell if you've used the item or not.

It's not Valve's error, it's a user error. If a developer wishes so, they can refund it. But looking at your OP they won't want to.
Valve can't refund something if the developer doesn't provide a process to remove said content from the account/game.
BIG thanks to the Pixonic developers who have resolved the problem. First class problem resolution and they kept in constant contact. Well done :steamhappy:
