Intel® Core™ i7-6950X Processor Extreme Edition

So I have a Nvidia 970 and im planning to add an Intel® Core™ i7-6950X Processor Extreme Edition to my pc. I don't know very much about Hardware. What kind of magical things could these two beasts do together? Run Battlefield 4k at 60+fps? Also, I currently have an I-5 4690K processor, would I need to change out my motherboard or something? Is this one a different size? Also here are the specs

When talking about higher resolutions, it will mostly come down to your GPU, not your CPU. If you are serious about 4K gaming, instead of spending the money on the i7-6950X I would invest in a GTX 1080. Or even wait for a GTX 1080 TI.

your cpu is 1150, the cpu you want is 2011 socket and that means, new board.

Your GTX 970 is not well suited for 4K, certainly not at maximum settings and 60 FPS. For Battlefield 4, maybe 30 - 40 FPS at medium settings. I believe Linus Tech Tips did a GTX 970 4K video a while back, if you want to search YouTube for it.

Your CPU is not the limiting factor in this setup for 4K resolution. You would want to invest in at least one 1080 (TI), but as wuddih said above getting two wouldn't hurt if you have the money.

To be honest, there is no single GPU that exists right now that can max all games at 4K, certainly not at 60 FPS. Just as an example, both The Witcher 3 and Rainbox Six Siege cannot hit 60 FPS with max settings on a single GTX 1080. I doubt very much Battlefield 1 will be any different.

Sure, 1440p should be doable. Might not be perfect 60 FPS, but I expect it would be very close, or only require minor adjustments to hit.

The i7 is more or less overkill.
There is very little difference betwen the i7 and the upper tier i5's in terms of game performance. Mostly because high level games are mostly reliant on the gfx card . Not so much the CPU. the Quad core Hyperthreading is only noticeable if you do actual work like video encoding and hi res photo shopping and the like.
