My desktop shortcuts are globes
I booted up this morning and a few games became globes (Castle Crashers, Q.U.B.E Directors Cut, Portal, GMod, Keep talking & nobody explodes). I think it's in part that they're internet shortcuts but I still can't fix it. Rebooted and looked for the app icons in the files.

Sometimes Steam fails to fetch icon for desktop shortcut when installing games.

Found out workaround for fixing that on Windows 7 at least. Not sure, if this works on newer Windows.
Delete those shortcuts with globe icons. Create new desktop shortcuts on Steam client.

If you haven't tried this yet.

the file extension .url must be set to the default program "Internet Browser", not any specific browser.

I have, they're still globes.
