Also, when your job entails handling boxes all day, you get used to what is in what box. I work in a fullfillment center and based on experience I can almost guarantee what you're going to find in different plain brown boxes based on shape, weight, size alone.
Valve is only shipping a Deck in this one specifically sized, distinctly shaped box. As soon as you see one, you'll see them all. Then, if you're deciding to steal one, you just have to wait for the right opportunity.
Ahh I see. If Steam Decks get stolen I Hope Valve will make the boxes less distinct. Either that, or release the Deck in retail stores rather than online only. I am from Australia so I am still waiting for the Deck to be released over here.
the shipping box in use has a series of icons on one side. the rest is neutral.
2 of those icons those icon might make the content identifiable.
portal 2 companion cube and the dot with a half circle (Deck logo)
it is mostly a gimmick how to handle the package.
outside of the US, this shouldn't be an issue and in of the US, its unlikely to matter what's printed on the box, porch thieves will steal everything and if its really the delivery drivers, they have enough time looking shipping labels and in addition, they have to be of a younger generation.
its should be a marginal number of Decks stolen, that is just blown up by social media.
get IGN or someone to contact Valve to ask about how many Steam Decks were reported stolen. that might clear up things .. if someone is at it, also RMA numbers.
probably depends on EB Games to be officially avaialble there, they are also responsible for other Valve hardware in AU.
by chance, do you know kogan, catch and clicksmith?
they are allegedly selling decks on their online stores ... most likely scalped though.
They responded pretty quick to that, in their own way...

Pop a Xanax and chill.
I am familiar with Kogan, although I haven’t purchased from them before. I will take a look at their Steam Deck prices and see if it’s good. Thanks for the heads up.
I can sympathize with the frustration but Valve will make good on the Deck. Just work with them and be patient. You'll get yours.
One edit, we had no issues getting our Steamdecks. I was the unlucky one who had to return it. Steam Support has been very transparent so far. Im just hoping for the best.
did you get a replacement or a refund ?
