no, you can not delete your account.
Valve deletes it for you on your request.

that should answer the question alone.

You can't do it own your own.

The process itself requires proof of ownership and takes 30 days to finalize.

Steam Support themselves then confirms that you've agreed to account deletion.

Valve does not go around and delete accounts on a whim - which i assume is what you delete.

Account suspensions / locks are a different ball-game; which may be reversable depending on the infraction.

Account deletion is a permanent thing.

As per: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4650-SDKC-0716

Oh thank you both of you i was just asking because someone was trying to scam me (i guess) because they were saying that i was dupping tf2 items (which iam not) and someone who supposed to be like a steam staff or something was telling me that he is gonna delete my account for that. I know it sounds weird i was kinda scared for a second but then it sounded so weird that Steam staff would just delete my steam account, just like that.

That's a scam; yes.

No VALVE EMPLOYEE will EVER contact you about duped items and / or item verification.

In fact, there is no such thing as item verification — and Valve employees don't contact users through their profile page.

1) Block that user.

2) Report them - do this immediately.

3) Move on.

It's a scam, and your account been compromised, don't trade anything.

Follow these steps, and don't skip any.
1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Deauthorize all other devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
3. Change passwords from a clean computer
4. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
5. Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)

Please note that to avoid getting account hijacked by anyone is best to not login from 3rd party sites, do not share login details with people you do not know, or use public watched devices, such as school computers, and etc, or connnecting to private VPN / DNS networks you don't know whom running them that may collect your information.

Probably not your friend. They got their account hijacked by logging in on a phishing site and are now trying to scam their friends. Quite common as more people are likely to trust those in their contacts.

Could be true. Change name to same as yours, or even change account to look like yours....take a few seconds for a scammers BOT to do that. try the scam and then change account and name for the next target. So another account with your name wouldn't show in a search.

We are. Unfortunately all the warnings in the world don't help those that really need it as they ignore or never see them until after they get scammed.

even if Valve made a fullscreen popup warning about them that last 60+ seconds every time you load the client with no way to stop it they'd still fall victim to scams. Only thing it'd really do is piss us off.

tysm, this saved me, like i wasnt gonna send him my info but this thread confirmed my suspicion that is was a scam

This scam was just attempted on me. The person contacted me via Discord and told me that someone impersonating me scammed them out of $500 worth of TF2 keys and that he and all his friends had already reported me.
I told him that he was mistaken and that i did not know what he was talking about.
He sent me the link to another discord user saying that it was a steam admin that could take care of the problem. I politely declined and said that if there were any issues with my account or any allegations, that steam would email me directly.
the person i was talking to quickly started deleting his messages.

Don't be fooled guys, don't panic, and NEVER reveal any information about yourself.
