Search for new phone.
That was what i was thinking. If i change will be just that?
Can I transfer my authenticator to my new phone?
Yes, you can.
To transfer your authenticator to a new phone, you'll need access to the phone number associated with your account (so we can send you a text message to confirm it's you).
From the Steam Mobile app on your new device, try to log into your account. When the app asks for your authenticator code, select "Please help, I no longer have access to my Mobile Authenticator codes." Follow the steps the app provides and you can either transfer your authenticator to the new device or remove it from the previous device.
After transferring the authenticator, any new trades or market listings will be held for a couple of days to protect your items in case your authenticator is ever transferred by a malicious person. See our Trade Holds FAQ for more information about trade holds.
I deleted my app on my previous phone before remembering this tip and now I get 15 days...
And it easy easy if you do a simple internet search using line like these
Steam mobile authenticator new phone
or
Steam mobile authenticator lost phone
or
Steam mobile authenticator new number
Valid links will be in the first few results. takes no time to find out what to do. It is Easy.
I think phishers know way more things than common users.
I'm punished for not knowing some kind of hidden process.
Not Valves fault you and other users don't read things about the products you use. The phishers clearly do because they understand how it works.
No different to any other software or product you use. The instructions are there for all to read. If you and others choose not to read them then thats on you, no-one else
If you buy an Electric car that runs on AC electricity. The instructions will tell you that. If you don't tread them and somehow plug it into a DC source you'll break it. Car company won't be held accountable because you didn't read the instructions and warnings.
Same could be said for putting petrol in a Diesel car and vice versus. Putting metal in Microwaves etc
Don't compare with cars/microwaves with real threat.
Wrong
If you have a new number the hold is longer for the simple reason it may not be the owner of the account. Using the same number is much more likely to still be the original owner and is therefore not hit with a long hold.
Its for YOUR security. You complain the phishers know more about how it works yet you want to remove the restrictions that will make it even easier for them all because you don't READ before you act. It takes but a few minutes to find out how to change device.
I'll use whatever examples I please. Out of context? Yes. Damn right. The principle is the same. You're complaining about not liking something because you NEVER READ the instructions. Ignorance is not an excuse and not a good enough reason to reduce security. If anything ignorance and lack of understanding should warrant increased security to protect those most likely to have lax security processes.
