Retail site just sold me a Steam account instead of game
Hello everyone, I'm looking for help on this issue.
This morning I was bored and in need of something new, saw an ad for a game and went to a retail site I use sometimes and looked for the game. Found it bought it but when I tried to activate it, it had a lot of different steps, instead of the normal procedure. It asked to change the email and password, which I thought was to transfer the game to my steam account. By the time I had done this, I realized that I had bought a steam account instead of a game. I don't know what to do now, I have a useless steam account and no new game on my current account. Does anyone know a solution for this?

Try to get a refund out of them? You can't buy Steam accounts, there's nothing stopping them from putting in a stolen account claim and ripping it out of your hands!

A solution to what?

Transferring games between accounts is not possible. You have paid for a Steam account and buying/selling accounts is against the Terms of Service.

If you let me know the account name i'd be happy to report it for you?

A solution to get my money back, but as KARRtm suggested I'm already in contact with support from the retail site. Meanwhile, I went to the seller page and it is not just one, they have a LOT of steam accounts with different games on sale. The ratings are pretty good too, how does someone get away with this... And some comments suggest that the seller encourages them to use family share to use the game.

The site is a scam site that doesn't care, and steam can't police every site in the world. Also what site out of curiosity....

You most likely purchased a stolen account. Best you can do is leave it be and hope the original owner can get it back through Steam Support.

Even if the account was sold by the account owner themselves, it's illegal and you should stay away from such sites.

Not sure what legitimate retail store actually sells Steam accounts.

The site is not the problem, I've bought games there before and they work. The seller is the one that is shady, the site is [removed] and the seller is Plyxa_games, just take a look at this {LINK REMOVED} a lot of the games are steam accounts.

Yeah, one of the worst illegitimate sites you could find.
They don't care if stolen goods are sold on their website, they only care about money and how to screw their customer over.
Especially with such protection racket schemes like their additional "insurance".

There are many good reasons why that website is filtered and we know very well which one is meant.

I'd remove the part where you circumvented the word filter to post the name of the site. Moderators do not like that at all.

Stop trying to bypass the link filter, do you think G2A’s link is filtered for fun or is it because the site is a scam?

this is under the Steam Subscriber Agreement.

any websites that SELLS Steam Accounts can NEVER BE TRUSTED.

NOT EVEN ONCE.

Yeah there is a reason for that, it's blocked by the filters.

Yeah the site is well known for selling stolen items, not carrying about laws, etc. Hence why its name is blocked

Did you seriously just say the site is not a problem whilst having to bypass the filter? Who the hell are you trying to convince and this is after the fact you've already been scammed.

Next time buy from retailers instead of marketplaces pretending to be retailers. With all the reputable retailers out there, it defies belief that people still resort to that garbage.
