Need Advice - Controller for Steam Link on Samsung TV
Hi, I just bought a Samsung SmartTV (50MU6100).

It was a pleasant suprise to discover it had Steam Link (I had no idea)! So I decided to use it. The problem is that I only have a DS4 controller and Samsung TV does not work with it, so I have to buy a new one.

Samsung TV lists the following controllers as supported:

- Steam Controller
- Xbox 360 Wired / Wireless
- Xbox One Wired
- Logitech F510/F710

Which one do you guys think it is the better wireless controller?

Steam Controller is the most expansive. I think it is very interesting, but I have seen a lot of people returning it because they did not get used to it's unusual control scheme (touchpads).

Xbox 360 is the most commonly used. I will need to buy the Wireless adapter for it.

Logitech 710 looks like the DS4 (which I like very much), but I have no idea if it is a quality product.

Thanks!

controller virgin = steam controller.
it is a lot easier to get used to it if you never used anything else much ... but buy it only on discount, the base price is too much and does not include shipping costs. sometimes it just costs like 10 bucks with a game, so there is no real reason to blow the full price on it.
i've heard the triggers break, didn't happen with mine yet, i believe that has alot to do with the user though.

for me, i always use wired xbox design controllers. i dont like the symmetry of the sticks on ps controllers and wireless is messing with batteries and charge times.
XBox One or XBox 360 one. Great support by most modern games out-of-the-box. The steam controller, while an interesting concept, reminds me on the DOS times of gaming, namely spending almost as much time setting everything up as playing. Plus, the XBO one is a great deal quality-wise and getting the S model allows for playing over Bluetooth, meaning no dongle required (if you have BT built-in that is).
Thank you for your time!

I actually just found the Logitech F710 with 30% off. I ended up buying it.

I prefer symmetric controllers, I am used to PS controllers since the original Playstation. I never owned a Xbox and I find the lack of symmetry really strange.

Anyway, thanks once again!

Unfortunately my TV does not have BT. It would require a cable if I wanted to use the Xbox One controller. Thanks anyway!

None of the above. I had my Steam link before my TV and since the Link doesn't sell for much I use the Link so I can use my DS4. So personally If I were you I'd by the Link and use you DS4 over buying a new controller.

EDIT: Forgot to say plus you can connect wirelessly/bluetooth using the Link.

I never tought about using Steam Link. I just got interested because my TV had it available.

Maybe buying a Steam Link and using my DS4 would be a better idea, but I have already bought the F710.

Maybe in the future I'll consider it. Thanks!
old thread but if your TV doesn't have Bluetooth but has a USB port available you can plug in the 8bitdo controller receiver USB dongle that will connect with most modern console controllers.
@HandSlander The receiver might connect them but so can a wire. The Steam Link app, and maybe the individual TV, needs to support the controller. I have plenty of different controllers that work wired/wirelessly on my PC and Steam Link. none of which work when connected wired or wirelessly to my TV whether I'm running Steam link app or not.
I'm confirming that steam link app supports 8bitdo as it mimics an Xbox controller.
@HandSlander Thx for the clarification

Thanks for that! I got Xbox S controller and looking to buy Samsung TV for Steam Link App!
Is the Logitech F710 any good? I bought one when I built my pc but never actually used it. I've been using the ds4

yeah I'm hoping the Steam Link app expands support to include the Xbox One S controller as it will pair with the TV over Bluetooth (Steam Link doesn't work properly with it however). 8bitdo receiver definitely works but it's not on par with native support. If you have issues try a USB extender so that the 8bitdo is not obscured by the TV.

That's my words to the wise!
