Steam ripped me off for $60
I bought GTA 5 3 years ago with this account, but had it removed from my account due to ban years ago.
So I thought I could re purchase it and play it. Turns out you can buy a second copy, with the same cd-key as your first one... which makes no sense.
I tried to refund it within minutes from purchase, but after 3 tries they say they wont refund it.

So basically I bought GTA 5 with the exact same key i had ALREADY purchased 3 years ago.
Im well within the return time table, but steam saves your previous time played from the first purchase.

This should not happen, it's theft. You cant make someone buy a game they already paid for 3 years ago and give them a key they ALREADY own..
Im trying to get in contact with an actual person to sort this out, im quite angry because I just lost $60 for nothing.

I hope someone from steam sees this and can offer some assistance.

If you remove a game from Steam you get this warning:

Note: Removed products will not be automatically uninstalled nor will achievements and playtime be removed from your profile. You should uninstall before removing, or you will need to manually remove local content later. In addition, should you repurchase this game in the future, you will not receive a different CD key.

Its only logical that you get the same key again because otherwise you could evade game bans like this.

its made very clear in the messages that pop up that you will get the same key..

its done this way so you can't easily bypass game bans by removing it and then repurchasing.. if you want a different key in order to get rid of the ban, you have to buy it on a new account

it's done so you cant avoid a ban , it keeps the malicious people out of the mp .
you get to keep your ban and waste money , i think it's rather fitting
it's rock star you need to cry to , their game , their rules

You were warned about removing a game that it would not give you a new cd key

you choose to ginore this warning

A cheater whining that they cannot bypass their GTAV ban by repurchasing a game on teh same account will find little sympathy here

I wonder how those people feel that were cheated against, from the account that was banned and that you are the rightful user of. Pretty angry, too.

Playtime doesn't disappear if you remove the game. If you played 100 hours of GTA5 the first time and have the game removed, then re-buy it, you still have 100 hours of playtime on your account. It doesn't go away, so on that alone you don't qualify for a refund.

No one "made" you do anything. This is all your responsibility, for ignoring the warning clearly given to you about the key, for not understanding/ignoring the refund policy for playtime and time owned for the game (2 hours and 2 weeks), as well as the ban that seemed to be the root cause in all this.

All 100% your responsibility. Take it as a hard lesson, as you will not get a refund, and there is no way around this but to make a new account, and buy the game again on that account.

It's funny how the way of thinking that buying the game again on an account to stop ban bypass is different that starting another account and buying the game again... that's a retarded logic. And lazy design...

All of you guys thinking you're clever in assuming that I cheated in the game, get off your high horse, that's not what happened.
Take your useless negative unhelpful crappy remarks elsewhere.

Stop going to people's posts just to talk crap.

Steam refunded it back a moment ago.
I no longer have issue and am satisfied.
Thank you steam.

Accounts are banned not users. This why you can create a new account and buy the game again. There is not a reliable why of banning a user.

Whatever the account did it was deemed enough for rockstar to ban it, be it cheating or not.
Steam shouldn't of gave a cheater back their money and kept it to teach them a lesson.

Seems the matter is resolved. Locking this up.
