but what do we know........
Well, evidence for a start ;)
Btw there is a scene in that movie that describes your thread pretty accurate:
https://youtu.be/D4Ha_XjCuA8
Your every response has been telling others that they're wrong because of what you believe. Even this quoted statement is contradictory in of itself. Instead of listening to the overwhelming majority of longtime users of the service, you dismiss their statements as "ad hom, philosophy, self projection, and weirdness" because you'd rather believe what some random person from a Discord chat who told you misleading statements about what you were seeing because you pissed them off after poking fun at them.
Which MUST mean they are dismissed as nonsense.
They don't get to create their own logic and reality :)
How did you determine that?
If you had been, you were dropped out of discord. The guy could not have asked you how you feel.
Even if he could, he would have been busy with your account.
All this did not happen.
So, read the first line of this post again.
If someone were to post such message on the Steam Community help forums instead of at the police, then everyone would immediately suspect its someone who just wants to grab some attention and sympathy, or to make others feel along with them and get them angry at a specific person. Never mind, these questions are valid, since its a serious accusation and the subject doesn't belong on Steam so likely a moderator would have closed it.
People don't say these things out of nowhere. I suspect that they have seen the Person's mother in this case for example. Again the first question is 'why on the Steam community forums', to which the answer is likely sympathy seeking. The real answer is obvious. "go see a professional". Someone in the field of mental therapy.
Whatever you do is up to you and only you can change how you feel if you don't want to feel that way.
No, they would instead say that you're not reading their advise and the words somehow don't arrive properly. It entirely depends on the Person in this case, how he reacts, how the Steam community would react. Here too though, they would likely first point you to the xbox community forums instead since they have a lot more expertise there. And so they question why here. Same answer, sympathy seeking.
You're sitting on a computer, relaxedly typing with a back straight, somehow moving your arms to create a full thread about your 'issue' on the steam community forums instead of letting someone else find you and talk to a doctor to help. I mean, normally people with such issue cannot even see nor conclude this since there is too much blood and flesh in the way, never mind that they are on the floor, so part of their own body is covering up the scene. There is no way the person who has it would know. Never mind he would be in severe pain, making him unable to focus and move properly.
So the reaction is extremely legit in this case. Why is it on the steam community forums, sympathy seeking, attention begging, etc. They however wouldn't conclude aspergers, but straight up go for narcistic personality disorder - victim type.
The boy who cried wolf - that kind of scenario could maybe be described if this happened more often or for pages long on the same thread indeed (if that is what you mean).
Point is, so far you seem to observe a fictional version of the reality we see. I don't see a point of disrespect considering the posts however, except for a couple that have been removed it seems. All of them attempted to consider your scenario seriously and take your words as real, but we all simply concluded the oposite. We didn't want to make you feel attacked or looked down upon with those conclusions, but for some these things are overly obvious and so they react as if everyone knows this and it is common sense. So, that may have been where you may have spotted some, somewhat mean sounding comments and you're correct that things could have been delivered on a more friendly tone towards you, but considering a lot of our messages are ignored, you could say the same about disrespect towards us.
I think like myself, others simply too wanted to show you what likely and actually happened there and what is currently happening here. The goal wasn't to argue. A lot of valid arguments have been mentioned.
Look, I just wanted to answer Muppet's questions to be honest, so you can ignore my words here if you want to.
I suspect that you tried to google around. I am honestly surprised you haven't found a single hint of security issues with Discord.
There are a number of articles reported by several cyber security companies, maybe you want to try looking for those.
Some things I can mention from my head at least is the following: Discord is used as command and control server by many maldoers. Discord doesn't delete a thing off their network and bots can access every post associated with a token using the API, even those no longer visible and deleted ones. Discord bad traffic cannot be seperated from good traffic by antivirus software and firewalls, so links and communication aren't blocked even if it is bad.

There is a lot more, but most of them are related to the things discussed to the above two videos and this is because of all the access you get just from grabbing your session token that is stored in a cookie temporarily.
Just do not ever link your discord account to Steam and don't ever buy nitro, otherwise they can get your bank and credit card details simply by having your token. Two factor authentication or needing to use a password to login somewhere is never asked if you never log out with the log out button and so the session never expires and can be transfered over ips globally and other machines. Discord prioritizes easy access features and easiness and it comes at the cost of all forms of security it could have. Meaning its easy, therefore a lot of simplistic people use it but its also a nice net for criminals to work from and causes problems everywhere.
Its extremely easy for maldoers to, especially after taking one account take the next. Their goal is to get bank related information, so they primarily target those with steam account links (for selling items) and those with nitro (who left their stuff on their discord account somewhere) + they also target them because they have a long list of friends and other servers they can work from. And their bot API integration is crap. It cannot determine a difference between account and bot account, so they can turn a user into a bot at any time as well and abuse the api from there.
