Why is Steam's browser BROKEN for Reddit? It reloads every 3 seconds. I'd like to send a Steam SUPPORT TICKET but there's NO OPTION FOR BROWSER ISSUES

Topic. Try searching the web for game help. Load a Reddit link. Watch as the page blinks and reloads every 3 seconds.

So then I go to do a Support Ticket and LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

No option for browser.

How do WE report this. Not me, WE. This is a Steam USER-BASE issue. Not a ME issue.

Steam's browser is about as reliable as a promise from a liar. I'd Alt-Tab any process you're running and use a desktop one.

The truth of the matter is many games just don't Alt-Tab that well.

What's the old Reddit layout? How is that enabled? THAT seems like a potential solution. Phone is a lame workaround. Steam is at fault.

Steam settings clear webbrowser cache and cookie try that first.

then steam flush cmd if needed ( google it. )

if this is your own browser then its not a steam issue. ( watchout for default browser even reset to have backup up or own userdata link's and cookie and such is your problem )

Old Reddit layout worked, but it was a pain to pull off.

I had to go to old.reddit.com first, then login, then go to preferences, opt out of beta new reddit mode, turn off all the new features and save it.

Now all links to Reddit load the old layout.

Workaround successful. Thank you for solving MY solution.

As for everyone else's solution...

If someone can still point me to a place I can request that Steam fixes this I'd appreciate it. I want this logged as a support ticket.

just so you get it steam has nothing to do with other company sites,
this dont ruleout own Browser issue or steam with it content on that page.

dont forget Default Browser might be the cause and its not the first time Browser MS Edge or Google chrome or Firefox got a issue with something.

even i spotted a firefox 32bit version then i have 64 on this pc over 10 year, and i still ask what and how did that got there through check version on auto update.

so do check for update.

generally for extended browsing, use a normal web browser. do not do any productive tasks in an embedded overlay browser.

Valve compiled CEF for Steam, themselves. google didn't do that. google does not even support CEF. Valve compiled it with several options to ensure that gamer numbskulls aint gettin viruses.

reddit works normally in chromium, google chrome and other CEF applications. so why yell at google again?

People keep saying games don't alt-tab well. I mean this seemed like a problem twenty years ago. These days I alt-tab everything and can't say I have any issues.

As far as reddit goes, I think this is an issue with reddit. Because I have the same problem in chrome and firefox on my Android phone and my iPad when using the website in favor of the reddit app on those devices. Seems like a way to funnel people into using the app.

If reddit is identifying the steam browser a certain way that would seem consistent to me. I've got no evidence, and I could be inferring the behavior incorrectly.

CEF is a specific build of chrome used for embedded applications

Its a fork of Chrome and is kept up to date in the same way Chrome is

If the browser itself doesnt behave a specific way, thre is nothing steam can do because CEF is basically maintained and updated by Google

The only games I've played that have an issue with alt-tabbing is really only No Man's Sky, and Path of Exile.

I can't blame either of them.
