Try a different USB slot.
Hardware do wear out. Test the USB port with a spare mouse

Does the mouse use a software?

For example, my Logitech mouse uses a software in which you change the colors.

Sometimes the lights can turn off on their own such as a keyboard, it could be a setting for when they’re plugged into the computer and or laptop. You could check settings with devices while it’s plugged in and see if there’s an option for turning on the LED’s

Kinda like how you plug in a phone and it has its own settings, same with headphones.

Hold the bottom side button, then click the middle scroll button to select the color/effect you want.
