if i only have email steam guard, can i accept trade offers without having a trade hold? just wondering if this is possible, thanks

Far as I remember it's possible only when someone gifting you (When you are taking item from other and giving nothing back)
Otherwise it's impossible

yes, so say im buying a knife on bitskins and the bot sends it to me, can i accept the trade and instantly recieve the knife?

Yes. I have done same in 2018, when i had only email guard (I withdrawal rust skin from website and had no problem, got it instantly)



P.S For more information, If you're trading items (both side or while only you are sending item) with a friend, and you've been friends for more than 1 year, the hold is 1 day

Nope, most likely not.

Unless as others have said, the other party has been a friend for a certain length of time, the trade ain't going to be instant. Even then it's one day.

If it is a gift, yes. You can accept it and it will be given to you right away.
If it was an actual trade for another item, you will have the 15 day hold on the trade.

What is a trade hold?

A trade hold is a period of time after a trade is accepted by both parties where the items traded are held by Steam before they are delivered. Trade holds last up to 15 days. If you're trading items with a friend, and you've been friends for more than 1 year, the hold is 1 day.

That's one reason why it says "up to 15 days", as there are a couple of exceptions.

Simlpe - security.

Scams happen and did happen, so they implemented this to mitigate the chances of it happeneing.

Exactly, and to be honest and fair, I think they are being pretty lenient with the one day friends for over a year hold. But of course, we never see anyone say thanks for that.

Holds on item gifts are only subjected to the senders Steam guard status. If the sender has the mobile app enabled, the gift can be accepted and received immediately to any account that has at least Steam guard email enabled.

As long as they have it, yes. I gift items to my alt account all the time. The ones you can't sell.
