Certain Teknoparrot games opens up Steam and uses an app named Spacewar on here to launch.
Any help? I heard it causes your account to get banned / restricted.

Using Spacewar will not get you banned.

It's only that some people use Spacewar as a menas to play pirated games, so it INDICATES you are pirating perhaps.

So if this game is doing that, it absolutely shoudl not happen. You should first off read the forums here for that game to see if it is a problem, and if it's not mentioned you can always post there, or contact Valve support to let them know.

Teknoparrot is a 3rd party program used to run arcade game roms, so I'd say it's definitely a grey area, Whether Steam cares about non-pc games is anybody's guess. OP might be better going to a dedicated community on somewhere like Reddit to find the answer to the question.

Eugh - I wasn't aware that was on here.

Yeah, that'd be a big worry I guess.

Bottom line though is that if it's an allowed program.game on Steam then if it calls that, it's all OK. Again, can't be banned purely for using it. It just can look shady to some people - that's all.

Though you are correct - you're better off gettting guidance from specific forums dedicated to that sort of thing, not least because of teh taboo of talking abouyt emulation here.
What do you mean by 'allowed on here'? You can't download Teknoparrot on Steam, the closest it gets is a community group.

it would appear it's just using Steam's functionality for some purpose.
No you won't get banned, you get VAC ban for cheating on a VAC service, that means if you play CSGO and use cheats, you get ban.

3rd party apps, or mods can/may trigger spacewar to appear on profile, again will not get you ban.

Never said it was allowed on here - read exactly what I wrote.

"Bottom line though is IF....."

I asked a question and didn't suggest you said it was allowed on here.

Ah fair enough. I thought by the way you worded it you were referring to me as I was the only that used the word. No problem.

emulation is legal. however let's be real, most people probably don't own the roms for TeknoParrot machines.
This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
