It's only that some people use Spacewar as a menas to play pirated games, so it INDICATES you are pirating perhaps.
So if this game is doing that, it absolutely shoudl not happen. You should first off read the forums here for that game to see if it is a problem, and if it's not mentioned you can always post there, or contact Valve support to let them know.
Yeah, that'd be a big worry I guess.
Bottom line though is that if it's an allowed program.game on Steam then if it calls that, it's all OK. Again, can't be banned purely for using it. It just can look shady to some people - that's all.
Though you are correct - you're better off gettting guidance from specific forums dedicated to that sort of thing, not least because of teh taboo of talking abouyt emulation here.
it would appear it's just using Steam's functionality for some purpose.
3rd party apps, or mods can/may trigger spacewar to appear on profile, again will not get you ban.
