Steam Video Player Not Working Properly on Second Monitor
Hello,

Recently whenever I try to open a video from my steam library and move it over to my second monitor to watch, the video will stop on the last frame that was playing and look a little choppy, but it will continue playing audio and other functions work fine. When I move the window back to my main screen, the video works fine again.

Youtube and Twitch videos play just fine.
Steam is the only one with issues.
It didn't have these issues a month ago.

Any help would be much appreciated,

Thank you!

the client has to be in focus for rendering at higher rates. if it is out focus this is heavily reduced. a simple click on it should already be enough.

It's not the rendering/resolution/quality. Clicking on it doesn't do anything other than start or stop the audio with the picture not changing and the picture is clear.

The whole window essentially freezes in that as soon as it recognizes the second monitor, the whole window freezes and I don't see the buttons at the bottom of the screen/the time left for the video, fullscreen button, etc... the picture will either freeze or show two keyframe images of the last images playedback in different spots in the windows. Again, I didn't have this issue a couple weeks ago and it's quite frustrating :/

Thank you for responding wuddih

Also, If i switch to Duplicate Monitors or Second Monitor only, the video works fine, but that defeats the purpose of having dual monitors. It's only when I have it in Extend mode and try to move the Steam Video Player to the second monitor.

BANDAID-FIX (Not what I or anyone should have to do, but it kind of works)

So I figured out a really annoying way to fix the video problem, but I have to do this for every video I open which I should not have to do. If I switch to Second Screen Only Mode, open the video, pause the video, switch back to Extended Mode, move the Steam Video Player window back to my second screen, and press play, it works, BUT if I try to put it in Fullscreen mode, the window disappears and I have to right-click on the icon on the taskbar and close the window and go through that whole process again.

Again, if anyone can help me figure this issue out, it will be much appreciated. Although, given the troubleshooting i've done and figuring out this obnoxious way to make the video work on my second screen, i'm pretty sure it's an issue with the Steam Video Player software itself.

Thank you.

Problem still exists in 2019. They should feel ashamed.

NVIDIA 1660 Ti (Predator Helios 300 2019) - videos doesn't play on the second monitor (sometimes). It affects SOME videos in web messangers and YouTube via Chrome, VLC didn't fail me so far.

Very annoying
