Steam shortcut, anyway to make it point to the exe of the game?
I've got Arx Fatalis but to work on modern systems we need Arx Libertatis.
Arx Libertatis uses a different path to the game, so Steam doesn't recognize 'Play Time'.
I would like my Arx Fatalis to register with Steam as I play, once it's modernized.

Thanks

"Modernized"?

Dude even the mod to play it on current computers is like a decade old now, I won't expect that will ever happen.

I have the same issue, but to my knowledge there is no way to fix this on Steam's side at all. In order to run the game in the slightest you have to use the mod. Perhaps talk to the mod maker, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that either.

Are you using the current version of Libertatis? Or the original from 8 years ago (version 1.2 is the current, anything other than that is older)?
Not sure how to respond to most of that, so I'll skip to the good stuff?

My Fatalis files, like arx.exe are dated 7/6/2020 3am , so not sure about decade.

Sure I can try the mod author, think he was/is an Arkane developer and I'll try not to hold my breath. Though he has responded to a post of mine on reddit before about Alia and Am Shaegar, :wswink:

Hopefully someone knows a way to edit Steam shortcuts.

^^ unfortunately under the steam info:

Unfortunately the Steam Overlay does not currently work at all For Arx Fatalis (with or without Arx Libertatis) under Windows.

The original Libertatis was done many years ago, and the current build is 1.2 released earlier THIS year, so maybe that's changed. If you're not using the current one, maybe try. I might try installing it, getting back to it. I soft locked myself in the one room early on (where a guy comes in and you MUST fight him, I have ... nothing to fight him with lol...) and kind of gave up on it. But that's 100% on me for it :D

Yes thanks Wuddih, it all works fine was even able to use 2560x1440.
Since it uses a different exe and a different path, it doesn't register on Steam.
As Zekiran mentioned it might be possible to get some info from the author of the mod.
I was just hoping someone might have figured out a fix here on Steam.
the overlay is not relevant for anything related to this topic.
It is relevant, since the game is a mod and not the original exe, and thus doesn't come up as 'valid' for this game's hours. Clearly they know of this issue at least on that thread.
That's how many Unofficial Patches work but most manage to work through Steam and so the question is relevant. If someone goes through the trouble and time to fix an old game to function with no systems in the first place, then it's certainly possible someone knows how to get this working.
New patches made for older games are constantly being created, there could even be a newer improved patch for Arx Fatalis. So I'm interested in what possibilities exist.
link was provided.
if you would read and follow it, playtime recording would work. overlay is absolutely not relevant for this task.
I must have misunderstood the webpage instructions, thanks Wuddih. :TZ3Tequila:
You could always take note of your playtime and then "run" Arx Fatalis with the whitelist setting of Idlemaster for that amount.
It worked, thanks again Wuddih! :sheriffsbadge: :HappyVampire:

Got it Pscht, thanks.
