For a start there is no such thing as an admin, so anyone pretending to be one should ring instant alarm bells.
Here's how it works.
If you have any issues with games or tech or whatever, you post on HERE. Everyone who responds is a USER, even the mods. We sort out all these problems.
If it's an account related issue or something personal, then you make a support ticket and the Valve support sstaff will get back to you when it's your turn.
These are the ONLY ways, and this latter one is the ONLY way to talk to anyone at Valve.
So, not only do admins not exist, NOBODY will ever contact you.
No it's not. It's yet another "i almost got scammed" by someone who ignored all the other "i almost got scammeds" that some other easy victim will ignore and get scammed.
And this is every week for years.
So no, you're right it absolutely does not work.
It gives it away.
