Deciding something you did years ago is an issue that needs to be resolved may not make it an issue any business needs to resolve.

I'm going to agree, family sharing is probably your only option. Otherwise if you just gotta have the game on your current account, games are often on sale, buy it on sale.

And they'd still require you to regain access to your old account.
Games are not moved from one account to another.
Additionally, accounts are not merged either.

So, unless you gain access to your other account, that copy of the game is useless to you.

Doesn't matter. You need to recover the account that the game is bound to. Good news for you is that you can likely use the CD key as proof of account ownership when trying to recover it

CD Keys once activated cannot be used again and are bound to a single account.

It doesn't matter. Support will tell you the same thing. Games cannot be moved between accounts.

Why can you not recover your account? You sound like you have proof of ownership in the form of the CD key.

You're not understanding.

There are a couple of things here.

For a start, once a key is used it is PERMANENTLY bound to that account. It can't be moved, nor can it be removed. It's done PERMANENTLY.

That said, you need to understand that to you it might seem trivial to get your account back.

But to Valve they cannot possibly know WHO you are - they need to ADEQUATELY confirm you are indeed the original owner and not some scammer or chancer.

So they WILL ask for appropriate evidence. If you cannot provide this, then you won't get access to the account. It's as simple as that.


They don't just randomly ask for anything - they need evidence they can check with THEIR data to see yo are indeed the original owner.
