BOT : Fake CSGO ask for help // in-chat interruption
A chat window opened, it was a friend of mine on Steam.

the text read -- hey mate I need help with our team in CSGO, we need 2 votes to win.

Then, a link that appears 100 % legit shows up.
when you click on it, it will send you to a page that asks your Steam log-in information.
(Because you need a Steam account to vote)

So all of that seems legit 100 % there is even a little LOCK symbol on the top left when you are transferred to the Steam Log-In.

What I don't understand now ;

My friend just RE-SENT me a friend invitiation - all of our common friends are down to only 1
that is quite suspicious. His profile kept the same name but instead of sharing 6 friends, we share only 1.

*** IS THIS SOME KIND OF BOT, OR VIRUS ? ANYBODY/EVERYBODY PLEASE HELP ***

- - so watch out for the COUNTERSTRIKE GO chat-pop-up.
(marked as CSGO)

you should see that this is a phishing site, even when you are drunk and tired af.
please customize your web browser if you fail to identify that.

you logged in? well, your account is compromised

Please do the following steps in order:
  1. Scan for malware (with whatever)
  2. Deauthorize all other devices
  3. Generate new backup codes
  4. Change your Steam account password, preferably from a known safe device.
  5. Revoke API key

Sounds like your "friend" has gotten their account compromised. Yours could be as well now. I would suggest taking steps to secure it.

The "vote for our team" scam has been around for a while. The login window is fake regardless of how legit it looks.
