Billing address
before anyone says anything i have seen the other threads with people with the same issue that they’ve been using wallet funds and haven’t had to put their billing address but none of the answers i find relate to my situation of not having a billing address at all, not to mention i haven’t even made a bank account for myself yet, i usually prefer to pay in cash or gift cards if i have any. anyway what i really want to ask is do i have to get a billing address to buy games and such right now or is there something i can do to get around for now and input one later?

"Billing Address" just means the place you live at.
So you just fill it out with your address of residence and thats it.
After that you can buy games with Wallet money again.
They just need to know where you live in the USA for tax reasons.

Just put your address in so your location can be determined. There's nothing sinister about it.

that purchase is a contract. of course as a merchant you wanna know the place where the other contract party resides.

So isn't zipcode/state is more than enough? I read some people said they also ask for phone # For what purpose?

I know I should go ask support, but it's not important ( as of now for me ). So if they do ask the full address and phone # I think there will be even more people end up buying from 3rd party like GMG, Fanatical and HB. Will Steam still get a cut if game not bought from them? I mean is those game "store" give some kind of % to steam?

Steam does not get any money for copies sold outside of Steam as keys.
They only get a cut for copies sold directly on the Steam Store.

i see. So isn't that shooting themselves? I see a few thread like this for few days now, some not happy about it ( probably personal reason like why some who has personal reason about Winter Event.. )

I am thinking is it not very much about Tax, but more about counter scammer? Lately been seeing more thread about people account got "stolen". But those would be trading ( do they ask for full address and phone too? ) not buying using wallet funds... (edit to add: or to counter those who buy keys (games ) and claim they are gifting... those people who pay to get those "gift"key, are they what you call region hopping? )

( I am just thinking and typing at the same time so don't mind me if I'm being contradicting, lol! )
