Multi seat gaming with steam
I use Aster to let my wife, son and myself to play on the computer at the same time from the same pc tower using different log in sessions concurrently. We each have our own steam accounts and game library. (Yes family share is enabled, but the titles we play together we have multiple copies of)

The issue is that only one user on windows can have a steam client active at a time. If someone else starts up steam, it force closes the active user.

I want to be able to run 2 to 3 steam clients concurrently so that we can each play on our accounts at the same time.

Sandboxie is not an option

A Windows terminal server may be the solution but it will not be easy, or cheap.

Or setting up multiple VMs on a hypervisor. Again, not easy, or cheap.

The Steam client will only run one instance per machine.

The problem with VM is the gpu pass thru pretty much ruins any performance gains. I can run an additional user with sandboxie but it doesn’t handle save data very well and not for a third user.

not accurate. Can and has been done with sandboxie. Save files become an issue with sand boxie so I’m looking for other avenues.

Sandboxing presents a new machine. Realize I said "machine" and not "computer".

Steam does not allow running multiple instances in the very same OS environment and this wont change.

so, you either do what the software you are using recommends you to do:
https://www.dokwiki.ibik.ru/en/v2/core/faq/faq_soft#how_to_run_the_application_steam_on_2_additional_work_places

or you find other solutions.

This isn’t really adding to the conversation. But thanks anyway.

latest windows update stopped sandboxie, so the answer is farther from before...

I Bought a License for Aster and I didn't know that was problem, it seems the best way to do that is through nucleuscoop

Can I use sandboxie plus than sandboxie?
