Can I trade with steam email authenticator but no mobile authenticator?
Hey,
My brother does not have a phone at all and is trying to trade. He has email authenticator but I'm not sure if he can trade or not. Any help?

So I basically can't trade normally if I don't have a phone?

Correct.

However, if you are friends with someone for a certain amount of time (1 year I believe), the hold time for trades is much lower even if neither of you is using the Steam App Authenticator.

Down to 1 day, yeah.

Didn't it used to be 3 days? Could of sworn I had one of those a long time ago.

I wan't asking about now, I was asking about the past. I could have sworn that the trade hold between longtime friends was 3 days in the past.

If you transfer the mobile auth. to a new phone, the holds are still three days. The support page says "for a couple of days", but everyone I have ever talked to about it or seen post about it says it is 3 days. Maybe that is what you meant instead.

That's not what was said. you can, in fact, trade normally. You were just told this.

Normal trade: 15 day trade hold.
Has been friends for >1 full year: Reduces hold to 1 day
Both parties have mobile authenticator active for more than 7 days: Removes hold.

You were told you can trade. You were not told that you can't. I don't know why you believe you can't as a response to being told you can.

I'm just saying i have to wait 15 days to trade my items from my other account. That's what i mean by "not being able to trade normally"... Thanks for the help everyone!

Well, you don't "have" to, no. You just have to if the restrictions that were covered here are not met.

It's not always 15 days either. That is not the only time period on holds. We want to make sure you understand this.
