They're a company, they want pennies.
they picked epic because there is a more likelihood they get noticed; which means more sales. (because epic has less games)
and they picked it because of the cheaper cost per sale thing.
However if they know there is a market willing to buy on Steam, they will more likely deliver it there to get more income.
That said, yes one email may not do it no. You'd need to convince others to mail as well or set up a crowd request platform where you ask a large number of people to vote if they're willing to pay full price for it on Steam.
If yes, they will/might release it on Steam at some point.

2nd: They can move release date.
They are still silent about everything, gameplay, release date...its kinda all on "silent mode".
They can simply be placeholders.
