Secret of mana
First off we really need the ability to contact support about things other than directly related to our accounts.

It was recently brought to my attention that the Secret of Mana remake is false advertising. Their product page is labeled as having coop, local multiplayer, and multiplayer. Now this tells me that the game is playable on my local network and online but from what I have read from others it would seem they only have couch coop.

online coop and online multiplayer are seperate entries and those are not listed on the store page. nothing wrong here.
Why do 4 tags mean all the same thing then? Hotseat always meant hotseat and local always meant local network and multiplayer always meant online. Sorry I’m used to words meaning what they mean. Impossible to even describe things these days now if that’s the case.
Urban dictionary seems to be the only source to quote for real definitions of modern terms.

"Multiplayer game is a type of game in which you dont play against computer oponents, but against real people on the internet. "

"A type of game mode that includes more then 1 player for example online playing black ops 2"

urban dictionary ... real definitions ... please.
Well I’ve been using computers since they were first released and I KNOW what these words mean. So until I can get a university to make a modern dictionary that’s the best we got. People misusing words that have a clear meaning that is understood by everyone that existed at the time they were made should not be tolerated.

When words cease to have meaning all were left with is noise.

"Local multiplayer" refers to multiplayer on the local machine (a term you should be familiar with since you've been using computers so long), not across a Local Area Network.
What I recall from the games I played on floppy discs was that they called it hotseat not local multiplayer. Later games made local multiplayer which referred to games played over a local network.
Hotseat refers specifically to people taking turns being in control (ie. 'being in the hotseat'), like if you were playing Heroes of Might and Magic with a few friends around the same computer.

So hotseat is one type of local multiplayer; it's a subset of it, not the same concept.
"Hotseat play allows players to play a multiplayer game with only one copy of the game on only one device."

There was no networks or internet back then.
The article you're linking to, if you read more than that one sentence, confirms what I said: that hotseat refers to people taking turns. That's where the "seat" idea comes from.

In Secret of Mana, you aren't taking turns, there's no (metaphorical or literal) "seat swapping". It's not hotseat. It's just local multiplayer.
Wish I could find when the term local multiplayer was first invented. I can’t recall it being used until personal computers used networks.

Regardless any sane person who was born before the year 2000 knows that having four tags for multiplayer all which mean sharing the same machine is disingenuous.

Well the idea of a local machine is a networking term, yes. You don't need to specify where the game is taking place if there's only one computer, after all.

Calling people insane is not really my idea of a constructive discussion, but could I ask which four tags you're talking about?
