Unbindable \ key in Source
I have a European keyboard layout and it has a backslash button next to the shift key. It types a backslash, so I type "bind \ command" and then press it in game, and it fails to press it. However, the backslash key across my keyboard next to enter works just fine.

It's worth noting that I have a European keyboard but I live in America and everything else in this situation is American.

I have somewhat the same issue. I'm considering switching from WASD (in my case ZQSD, since I use a European keyboard) to ESDF for movement in games. (crazy choice, I know)

I realised that my AZERTY keyboard also has this key (< > \) in between Left Shift and Z (for US keyboards W), and I have no idea what to do with it, since I can't bind it in CS:GO or any other game, really.

It's difficult to find a solution online too, since I have no idea what the key is actually called.

there is no "european keyboard layout".

i can't recall if source games ever considered any other keyboard layout then standard US-qwertz for their bindings.

just from a random brainfart:
add english and english us qwerty keyboard in microsoft ime, change to it, open some text editor or something and then press the key you wanna bind in a source game.
