What is the difference between a Bundle and a Package?
Hey there. So I was wondering what the difference between a bundle and package is on the Steam Store. I know steam has it set up so that the price is lowered for each game you own in it, but I haven't seen a bundle for awhile now, just Packages. Are bundles just smaller or something? Did they change bundles to packages at some point? This is just something that came up since it's the sales, and would like to know for future reference. Thanks!

Packages are a fixed price - if you already own something in it, you dont get a lower price or a second copy.
Bundles will take out content you already own and adjust the price accordingly.

Bundles are tailored for your account and give you what you don't own at a cheaper price. They can not be gifted.

Packages you just purchase the whole thing at 1 set price. They can be purchased as gifts.

bundles were introduced 1-2 years ago and exist paralell to packages, which were the "bundles" before (thus why some packages have bundle in their product title).

bundles are a bit less complicated to manage and to go on sale with for the dev.

packages have to get set a seperate discount if you wanna get on a sale with, it is basicly handled as its own product. it also does not take into consideration if you own anything in it and will not get you any duplicates. the advantage is, you can purchase it as a gift and for yourself.

there are also 2 different types of bundles. the mentioned completion bundle and there is the "must purchase as set" bundle, which doesn't allow you to buy it for yourself, when you own something in it but it allows you then to buy the whole bundle as a gift, what the completion bundle does not allow. (an example of a game which uses both types of bundles)

the dev can still use all 3 types of packs and bundles for his products.

Very clear and concise. And to add, one will have the word "BUNDLE" highlighted and with a "?" that will let you know that it is a completion bundle.

Also, packages are not always discounted properly, if at all.

I really wish they came up with a separate keyword (maybe collection?) for bundles that go down in price as you own contents.

IE just a set % discount on stuff you don't already have, none of this fixed price BS needing to re-purchase something you already have.

Or at least give us giftable copies if we re-purchase like this.

A bundle needs more than one item.

Those tailored bundles have a big blue BUNDLE next to the name of the bundle.
