are animated avatars exclusive to the ones you buy in points shop
or can you use .gif files as avatars now

To me it feels like they're testing the capability with the ones you buy in the store and eventually they'll allow gifs as avatars. One can hope anyway.

they will never allow self-upload user crap as animated avatars.

Would be a total nightmare because the usual edgelords would use nothing but porn and gore gifs.
