How do I disable this Steam Input controller crap?
I've been using the Thrustmaster eSwap Pro Controller flawlessly for months. Now, all of a sudden, whenever I try to use it on a game from just (only steam), the mouse cursor goes crazy, the volume is reduced to zero and it starts opening the big picture virtual keyboard.

I never even tried messing with big picture, nor did I ever use the controller support in it. The eSwap is PC compatible off the box, never even had to setup anything.

After many hours trying to figure this out, checking and ticking all the options, updating firmwares, deleting stored configs, I came to the conclusion the issue is this damned Steam Input feature I don't want. Is there a way do disable controller input for the interface? How do I disable this?

Hmmmmmmmmmmm
Steam, settings, controller, general settings. Unmark all.

Tried that, Muppet.

I'll just delete all default assignments.
The controller works fine in game. It's just the interface and desktop control that screws everything up.

In Steam Settings -> In-Game
Turn off the option to start Big picture with gamepad.

It was already off. The only thing that worked was to delete all the assignments. Took me a while but it's finally not messing my navigation.

I had to disable the controller completely. I had an old xbox controller here, using it now for steam games. Shame, really love my eSwap.

After some time scanning this forum, I stumbled upon many issues regarding the PS4 controllers. Since eSwap is a PlayStation 4 licensed gamepad, Steam is assuming it's a Dualshock 4, therefore sharing the same issues. So far, I have not seen any solution for this.

I must have missed some default settings as the problem persists for me in game (thankfully I only use the controler for one game), I do have a ticket open but the initial reply just listed tasks that I had already attempted to resolve the problem so I have sent a reply back top support outlining what I have tried to resolve the problem.

Hopefully the cause, a workaround & eventually a full fix can be found soon

This is due to the latest Steam Input version. They had messed up the Xbox One Controller but now messed the PS4 with the current hotfix. One step forward, two steps backwards.

Thankfully my DualShock4 does not cause any conflicts so I can use that in game, downside is the left analogue stick is not consistent so not a great alternative

Hello,
there is a fix from thrustmaster but it seems to work only with games that have a controller compatibility at "full". For example in Monster Hunter World it doesn't seems to work.

Here is what you must do (from Thrustmaster):
-Update your controller firmware (3.2.13)
-DO NEVER SELECT THE « BIG PICTURE » MODE
-Click on STEAM / SETTINGS
-Click on CONTROLLER / GUIDE BUTTON CHROD CONFIGURATION
-Click on BROWSE CONFIGS
-Click on TEMPLATE and select GAMEPAD
-Click on APPLY CONFIGURATION
-Check if your controller settings is set up to « Guide Button Focuses Steam » ( in STEAM/SETTINGS/CONTROLLER/GENERAL CONTROLLER SETTINGS)
-Restart PC
/CAUTION\ DO NOT REMAP ANY BUTTONS FROM STEAM
ONLY REMAP BUTTONS FROM THRUSTMAPPER

This workaround only works for some games (probably those with the controller compatibility at full in Steam) but for games like monster Hunter World i have an other solution : just delete drivers and software and in STEAM/SETTINGS/CONTROLLER/GENERAL CONTROLLER SETTINGS must be set to « Playstation Configuration Support ». If you downloaded the installer for drivers and software from Thrustmaster then you have that file :"2020_eSwap_1", if not just download it again from their website. You have to launch the installer and let it delete drivers and THRUSTMAPPER.

Hope it helped and hope they will fix it for good someday.

Hi Aztek

The Firmware on my eSwap is 7.77
Followed those steps, nothing changed.

The problem is the calibration that is nuts right now. This was provoqued by a recent update of the Steam Input software, that fixed a previous problem with the Xbox One Controllers. So, right now, there's no evident work around to permanently fix this.

At best, your "fix" is temporary.

disable every compatibility thing.
and hide the controller.
