Steam Automatically Blocking/Deleting Friends
Hello all.

I currently have a ticket raised with steam support (HT-47C5-56XR-TP5D) due to the fact every day, multiple members of my friends list seem to be getting blocked/deleted and I have not requested for this to happen.

I have also investigated this and asked some friends to check their blocked list and the same issue has occurred.

If you are experiencing the same issues can you please post below so this gets noticed, you can also raise a steam support issue and reference the above HT reference to raises some light on this issue.

Thanks!

Whats the fix to this?
1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Deauthorize all other devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
3. Change passwords from a clean computer
4. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
5. Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)

Steam does not automatically block or delete your friends, this is from your account being compromised. Use 2 factor authentication and make sure nobody else knows your password.

I have recently changed the password and always used 2 Factor auth since it has been a thing.

Ace, thanks.

When you say it has been compromised, what do you mean by this? Is someone quite literally in my account or what?

Well ♥♥♥♥... Now that these steps have been followed, will my account be fully safe?

Also what does it mean if there was something in my API?

well, personally, I'd also scan with a top AV software such as Bitdefender in addition to MBAM since there will be different detection rates/Bitdefender will pick up a bit more.

with the API it means that someone is probably using that to mess with your account

Okay, thanks for clearing that up.

Any idea why they would just block people?

Will my account always be "Weak" now or once I have done all of this am I good to go?

if there was something in the API, that confirms the account is compromised. if you had tried to trade anything, the scammer would be able to redirect the trade to one of their throwaway accounts.

making a trade look like a system error buys the scammer time. items have a cooldown after being traded, and the longer it takes support to get to your ticket, the more likely the scammer will have move the item to other accounts

and blocking would be the start of a set up for a "Steam Admin" (the scammer) to assist you with your problem. let your friends know if they are having similar issues

I have passed this on. Now that these steps have been followed, what should I (and my friends) look out for, anything blatant or not so blatant to watch out for?

with the key you can request data from your account and control certain aspects of the account.

f.e. view all friends and add/remove/ignore them. or read and send messages, etc.

learn do detect phishing websites or simply never login anywhere when something asks for your Steam credentials.

Would A Clean Computer be one I have done all of the Above to and Installed an Antivirus on?
