Tried reinstaling steam, moving folder, clearing cache, etc generally all the tips from steam and nothing work, anyone had something like this?

Any idea how to fix it?

I would take a punt here and suspect you haven't got enough disc space left.

You do understand that you need MUCH MORE than the install size to download, right?

I mean, if say, the game were stated as a 40GB download, you would probably need up to 80GB spare to download to and use as swap file space.

Plus, you should NEVER EVER run your disk drive this full. Steam and Windows should have 10% MINIMUM of your hard drive space left free at all times to work correctly.

So if this is the case, start backing up stuff and deleting.

No its not the case for sure and never was a problem with that, i have like 200+ free GB space on disc for game that take 50GB, tried few times and on different disc as well, but it stop in the same exact file.
It is some artwork in pdf and at exactly 30.9 gb instalation stops

Apologies for assuming that as it's so often what happnes when people report this issue.

SO just to be clear here, when you say it always stops at that point, is it the same for different drives you're installing to?

If not, and it's just this one drive, then that might mean you have a failing hard drive.

Not buying from gog?
Mad Manieck May 6, 2020 @ 8:08am
It is not GOG version, its steam GOTY version.
And its new hard drive so failing hard drive couldnt be problem here as well

Sorry, but it being new is irrelevatnt to whether it's failing. ALL hard drives are built with flaws in as it's an imperfect technology.

This is why every drive has a boot table, as it will ignore any problematic sectors from manufacture.

Of course, that doesn't mean your IS failing, just that newness is not a means to negate the possibility.

So to answer my question is this on the ONE hard drive or is the same problem happening at precisely the same point on other hard drives?

This error happened at THREE of my hard drives.
First I tried to install it on my SSD for obvious reasons, got the error, later tried installing it on second drive (HDD).
And now done all resets, reinstaled steam etc and after opening this topic tried to instal it on my third drive (also HDD), got exact same error with same file.

I thought I'd check to make sure as it was obviously important.

If you are indeed getting the same failure with the same files each time then it's surely safe to assume there's an issue not your end.

Have you checked in the games forum here to see if others have had the same issue?

Not checked and contacted anything yet.
But it look like I may figuret it out.
Since its only artbooks i manually deleted them from downloading folder and it moved past magical barrier and its downloading.
But its still over 16 gb more to downloads so gona look if there will be more errors
deactivate your Antivirus...

you need to click from pause to pause until you reach the end, it worked for me

Most likely the antivirus giving false positive. Deactivate it or make an exception. That seems to be the biggest culprit with a failed installation.

I've had the issue with the Witcher 3 and Anno 1800, it installs the game without any problem but then doesn't have the permission to write in the new update folder to install the update. Two ways I fixed it: for the witcher, going to the hard drive find the folder, go to properties etc... and allow full rights, including writing (not read only). And for Anno I had to unactivate the antivirus. Don't erase the download cache or try to fix the folder or whatever it's pointless and you loose your download. You'll find plenty of people with the same issue and more details googling "witcher 3" followed by the error in full.
Have fun :)

I also am having issues installing Witcher 3. Mine's saying the download/map files are corrupt. I've worked on it for the last couple of days off and on and got clear down to having just 4 seconds left to launch the game and it says there's a problem with a map file that isn't even in the folder. I've done a support ticket and am waiting for an answer.
