Mail Spam: access from a new computer
Hello, I received an allegedly spam mail in which I am told that my account was accessed from another pc.
The IP address of the person who attempted access was present in the email and I am advised to change the steam password and the email address, complete with a link that would have redirected me to the recovery of the account.
I must say that the email is made "ad hoc", practically identical to the email sent by the real steam assistance, both in form and as the sender's email address.
Initially I was fooled by the email and I clicked on the IP address present in the email, being sent back to a page where the IP of my pc and the IP of the person in question (located in some remote part of the world) were shown .
After that, I closed the email and made scans and counter scans on PCs and smartphones with the fear of having installed some malware by opening that IP address.

Having said that, in addition to reporting the problem to you on Steam, I would like to ask the community if someone else has received such emails and if I actually run some risk in clicking on the IP address on the email.

Thanks

1. check the account name of that email and compare it with yours.
if that is your correct account name then it is way more likely that the email is what it says. someone used the correct account credentials on your account. if that still happens after changing passwords, then you should check for malware.

2. if the account name is not the same, then it might be for an other account you created and forgot about or it is just a fake/scare attempt email. check for malware and check if you have other accounts. (you can have multiple accounts on the same email on Steam)

3. ip addresses in those emails are normally not clickable.
either something of the email program or some software on your device thinks it is a special number to flock convenience on. f.e. "this number looks like a phone number, lets make it clickable for convenience" or it is straight up a link to a phishing website.

Clicking on the IP address I open a page where there were my IP number and location and his IP number and location, and, at the bottom of the page, it sais "login information doesn't match, please close your browser and change your password immediately".

I don't think that someone get my password, I think that it is a phishing attempt. My preoccupation is that clicking on that link i may install a malware in my smartphone, but i made a lot of check up and it is ok.
