It's useless and annoying...
I've made typos before, and looked up words on Google before. It's not some huge undertaking that I can't handle. Meanwhile, the fact that every single word we type, even in unsent messages, is being second-guessed, and there's no opt-out at all, is a problem.
It's for spreadsheets not chatting
That abomination of a feature should have stayed dead along with clippy and xp search dog.
It for some reason even marks correct words as incorrect wtf.
WHY!?
Maybe so. It doesn't seem like they're doing this for our benefit, at any rate. Like if we had a way to deactivate the spellcheck, who would that hurt? Nobody, of course. But we still don't get a say in the matter. Spite could very well motivate someone to do something like this.
