I found a workaround that I posted here: https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/1762481957311583914/
fix your privacy settings to public. you're welcome.
It's not up to us to do something. Setting the profile to public is just a workaround. Private profiles didn't have any issue with game invites before this big update. Now, private profiles don't show in-game status, with no option to change it, and this is why it has problems.
It was an unintended bug. A low priority one at that.
Do you know how many people have a private profile?
Many new users simply don't change this because they're not aware of it or simply don't care.
Game details aren't the same thing as game status. If I play a game now, people only see me as "online". Which is a good change, but there's no way to manually show the game unless you do something really complicated with the friend invites, that I found completely by accident.
I'm not sure what the point of this post was. I said that right above it. And I also said you can bypass that if you want, but it's needlessly complicated and people will never know they can do that unless they read a guide.
Still not what I want.
Before the update, private profiles would show their in-game status. I want that back, as an option. Or a one time "show status" in the overlay every time you launch a game.
Also I think it was never itentional to take away a feature from players, and Id say they will probably ''fix'' it.
