Downloads slow to 10kb/s Verizon - DC / NE US Issue
*******************************************************************************
It appears Verizon FIOS is the culprit - per other users seems there are difficultues in DC / NE US Area
********************************************************************************

As of last night, all of my steam downloads suddenly dropped to approx 10kb/s. This is not specific to any game but any steam game/app. I'm able to download the steam platform just fine and other applications work fine as well. I have a gigabit internet connection - speed test is returning 750/511 MBPS, was able to download a test 1gb file in approx 30 seconds. Games that are updated run fine it's just that my system is unable to download anything from Steam!

Attempted all of the following without any resolution

Restarting Steam
Restarting PC
Restarting Router
Changing download location
Clearing download cache
Reinstalling Windows
Flushing / Clearing DNS
Turning off Firewall
Files attached: speedtest.jpg

Any help or tips is appreciated

I now get this...

Which is better than yesterday but still less than expected. On the bright side, it is not maxing out my CPU on all cores making it impossible to even move my mouse around. So, there is a plus for what ever you were doing to my CPU yesterday.

Tested again...

How does this look now? I have tweaked our routing policy to hopefully alleviate this. We are currently working with Verizon to fix this issue, and hopefully we'll get this done before Christmas.

Fixed today for me!
Well I might have spoke too soon. Had more time to test and speeds are all over the map. It will burst to 50MB/s, then stop for a sec, then go at 22 MB/s for a while, then completely stop for a while, then repeat more bursts and stops. example: https://i.imgur.com/J4FGUdj.png

So thanks for getting it going again, I couldn't launch CS:GO without a small update, but larger updates seem to stall.

Mine was a bit wonky too. I was happy and then sad as the day went on.

your disk usage stays high = your disk has too much to do, so Steam stops downloading to actually get stuff done.

you might wanna exclude Steam directories in your anti-virus solution, that might ease things up.

This is still a problem for me, anyone else still facing these issues?

Has anyone found a solution to this problem yet? Using FIOS as well in the DC area and by the looks of things they are not getting any better.

This was a unique issue with steam many user that has same issue in that time period, i doubt you can revoke thread at all then a steam moderator see you did. this was solved back then with steam and ISP figure it out , and steam user see it help, i assume they did that, i have no access or knowing, only the steam users here, that make support ticket has knowledge what happend.

if you think you are right in that go ahead , but you need a technicain on your side to proof this. and log from back then. thats is complicated as hell.

Also, the solution is to use a VPN and call Verizon Fios and tell them about themself
