Final Fantasy XIV moving file location? (from C: to D:) (No longer need help!)
So basically my laptop has terrible storage so I want to download the game to my hard drive but I notice that it'll only go to My Documents by default and I can't find a way to change the location.

I tried using CMD where the code is: mklink /d "C:\Users\(My Name)\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn" "D:\Final Fantasy XIV stuff" but all it said was "Cannot create file when that file already exists"

If anyone knows any alternatives or if I'm doing something wrong let me know!

Edit: I'm referring to when it gets to the bit with the update patches, on steam my default is the D: hard drive

Edit 2: Eventually I managed to get the game to start loading

usually in \Documents\My Games\ are the savegame/config files and not the game files itself
... and i assume that is also the case here and you wanna symlink hackerboi things you actually have no clue of.

steam settings -> downloads -> steam library folder

add a new library to your other drive

and then rightclick the game in Steam -> properties -> local files -> move folder -> select the other drive -> move folder.

Based on this:

You actually want to use

mklink /J C:\Users\(My Name)\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn" "D:\Final Fantasy XIV stuff"

Since /d will create a symbolic link instead of a directory junction.

I tried this but it just gave me "Cannot create a file when that file already exists." once again instead of giving me a symbolic link

Ah I have my hard drive as default on steam, I'm referring to when it's installing the actual update patches etc. cuz when I tried to move that it just copies the file rather than moving it.
